The 14th of February. It’s just another day like any other, I know. But I’m a big romantic I love the love and I’m very cool with that.

I agree it is commercial and yep, companies make a shed load of money and absolutely, you should treat your loved ones with surprises any day of the year not just today because we are told to.

But I can’t help but wonder, what’s wrong with having a day?

Maybe it’s a day for a brew in bed, a romantic meal, toasting to being single or thinking of a lost love, giving a dozen red, sending a card, whatever.

Perhaps having a day to make us pause and think about the people we love isn’t so bad. You don’t even have to buy into it do you? But I think the chances are you won’t forget to say “I love you” to your favourite humans on this day. Whether that’s your friend, lover, kids or your dog.

After all, everyone needs a little love at least one day a year. Maybe this day is the day.
